Remove Editing Restrictions in Microsoft Word Without a Password

1. Right click on the Word document and click Rename

2. Change the extension from .docx to .zip

3. From the pop-up, click Yes

4. Right click the .zip file, then click on
“Open With…” and select “File Explorer”

5. Open the “word” folder. Find the settings.xml file, right-click it, then click Delete.

6. Exit the .zip folder

7. Rename the .zip file back to .docx
